What was I rambling about yesterday? Oh yeah, being the Roy Jones of rap. Im starting to think that a "Rappers-like-boxers" mantra might be more accurate. You ever noticed how one fight a boxer can be at the top of his game, straight destroying folks and then, BOOM! The next fight, they getting knoced out in the 1st?!
I used to thing cats was just throwin' fights to get the payoff, but I was talking this boxing cat I know and he said that it happens JUST LIKE THAT!!!! I couldnt explain why, but he says its true, which leads me to my own conclusions. Boxing (like emceeing) is a brutal sport, so you have to be brutal yourself to contend, right? You gotta be hungry, on edge, prepared to knock someones HEAD OFF, correct?! So how do you keep that edge once youve found success? Once the money and fame comes in, how can you stay hungry and train like your fighting for your livelyhood? The answer is, YOU CANT!!!!
as usual, your asking, WHATSTHISGOTTADOWITHHIPHOP?!
Well, humes, I'll tell you. Whats happens to a rapper once he finds success in the game, whether it be financial success, noteriety or whathaveyou, is that they become complacent, lazy, not "hungry" anymore. That sir, is when the falling off begins. I cant say that I've found fame in hip-hop, but I never expected it to go this far, never expected for people that Ive never met to know the words to my songs. Its a very humbling experience, but also a very DANGEROUS one..........
oh yeah, I got in the booth last night. Frank came and added some spark to the chorus, WE GOTTA BANGAA ON OUR HANDS!
out...........
