*A MILLI, A MILLIE, A MILLY, A MILLI, AMILLI*

You ever seen that movie "Amelie"? Me neither, but i used to work at blockbuster video and the box art was always intriguing.........

Remember The Million Dollar Man? Ted Dibiase? Hey was the man, he made a very plain wrestling move (the sleeper) into his finishing move, "The Million Dollar Dream", sooooooo coool!

Remember Amerie? She so fine, OH GOD!

Whats the point, you ask? Well, all of the aforementioned people have names that remind me of what I can only call the best beat EVER MADE, "A Milli"

Best track ever? Yeah, I said It! Not a DJ Premiere track, not a Dr. Dre or Timbaland, but A TRACK FROM A CAT NAMED "BANGLADESH" IS THE BEST SINGULAR TRACK EVER PRODUCED!!! I've been bumpin this track for a least two months now and it hasnt gotten old yet, a short story/synopsis, if you'll allow:

I rapped on it (of course I rapped on it, you have to so you can keep your rap credentials) not knowing how HUGE it would be. This is around the time I was recording disc 1 of THE REALER TEN: BLACK SOLIDUS, which in when I had no cable or innanet, so i had no idea that EVERYBODY AND LIL MAMA *rimshot* was jumpin on this beat. This was kinda unfair to me because had i known it was a competition, i would REALLY went in on the track (not saying I didnt kill it, but I was really nerding it up, hence the title "A Milli Exercise") and represented myself better.

which brings me to my point. Im about to jump on this beat again as soon as I finish this blog, this time with top-shelf lyrics that can be digested by nerds and laymen alike. Now my question to you, my fellow hip-hop lover, is this: AM I WRONG?

Am I dirty for pullin a golf move (MULLIGAN!) on this beat? Ya'll let me know, I'll post the track up sometimes this or next week or month, lol (Its gonna be on The Realer Ten 2: Dead Cell, anyways)........

so yeah, CHYEAH!

"Your a blood bank, I withdraw with my shank"

Ya'll remember that song? "Break your achy like Billy Ray"? "Super Soul Sis" was the song, I dont even know her name, lemme check youtube.........nope, they dont know either.

Aight, that has NOTHING to do with anything, but its 7:50 in the morning and I spent the night recording, so you get what you get, lol......

More randomness: Do ya'll remember Chris Jackson, the ball player from LSU who went on a RIDICULOUS tear in the NCAA tournament so many years ago? Lemme see if I can find a picture..http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y78/ChadFinn/Jackson.jpg

That guy, remember him? "Shaz, this has nothing to do with..", WAIT, LEMME FINISH!!!!

Now, do yall remember him after he converted to Islam and changed his name to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf? Another picturehttp://temple3.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/g_abdul_rauf_195.jpg

Remember him? "Shaz, whats this got t do with.....".

Aight, here goes. I remember reading an article and this man where he said that his talent troubled him, that he couldnt understand why he was so good (he wasnt being conceited, either. son average 30 his freshman year at LSU) and that he was very unhappy because of this, weird, huh. He said the unhappiness over said talent in one of the reasons he searched for his faith, whiched he found in Islam.....

So is Shaz turning Muslim? No, though I do love how respectful their women are, but I digress. The point of this thing is this: dude was smart enough to know that God (Allah) was in the mix of what was going on in his life and so do I. Ya'll prolly dont realize it, but i am having an INCREDIBLE mixtape run over here. Im on pace to have 4 (count em) 4 mixtapes done by the start of the new school year, CRAZY!

And not only that, but the ALBUM (THE REAL ALBUM) is coming together, too, but I aint gone even get into it. This things getting hecka long, I know Im breaking all kinds of blogging rules, ahaha. I didnt get a chance to tell yall how I had to chop up the "Hello Brooklyn" sample myself, ah well, heres the joint, as promised.

SOME THINGS YA MONEY CANT BUY.............

"Like Heaven in the sky" -Rick "The Bauuuussse" Ross

Can you believe Ross said something so profound?! Crazy, right?! Hello pimps and pimpettes, Shaz back in the building for a short (but positive) rant session.

Well, its 3:46 in the A.M. and ya boy's recording songs, I LOVE IT! I swear that if there is one message that I want to get through to my listeners, it is this one profound thing; I-AM-THE-BEST-RAPPER-ALIVE!

lol..........

OKAY, if there's two messages that i want to get across to my listeners, its that i am the best rapper alive and we all should enjoy our lives while we have it. Life is so short, its ridiculous, so i just really hope and pray that all my people are enjoying this time God has given them on the earth. Right now Im having the time of my life recording songs and sending them to collaborators and dj's and all that other hip-hop stuff, ITS GREAT!

sorry I wasnt emo tonight, maybe when im making a love song, lol.

hollerrrrrrrrrrrrrr..............

did I mention Im thinking about puttin out a mixtape a month until my album drops? eh........

PEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Saturday, June 28, 2008

Aight, Im on Eminen now.......

"If I Get Locked Up Tonight". I just listened to Ehlzhi, Lupe, Fabolous, Joe Budden, Paul Cain and E. Ness. Lyricists soothe this savage beast, lol...

Sorry, being random, lets be MORE RANDON, EH!?!??!

uh,

Two words

Im nervous

Not Really

Just Scared

Hold On

Scared's worse

Lets say

Nervous, yes!

lol, sorry folks, just tryna keep ya'll updated. Big show tomorrow. Back on the old stomping (staying in my room) grounds of AAMU, my Alma Mater. I really aint nervous, Im a bit to arrogant on the mic to be nervous. Lets just say that I have....."other concerns", lol, ones that I might speak on later or never mention again.

But in the meantime, whatever my feeling is, Im gonna listen to a tad more lyrical veracity (<---big word for 3 A.M.) before I go to sleep, CHYEAH!

CRS? NAH! THE TRIANGE OFFENSE?! NOPE!!!!

The Re-up Gang?! Ummmmmm, maybe........yeah, The Re-up Gang*

Oh, sorry folks, thinking (typing?) out loud. Whats good, friends?! Shaz back IN THE BUILDING with a little more insight on the goinz on of the aspiring emcee which is me.

Soooooooo, me and the crew, the might (Mighty Mighty) DSA, went to Club Focus last night to knock the performance rust off of us, get back accustomed to being behind the mic. Now, our plan was to perform one of the songs that we're performing this weekend at the Black Arts Festival. The song we wanted to perform was "Captainilism Works", one of our definite bangers. So the entire week leading up to last night, we're thinking thats the song we're gonna rock............WRONG! WRONG!!!!!

After we did all the rehearsing and remembering our lines, checking ad-libs and whatnot, we couldnt even do the song. Not because they wouldnt let us (Cause the host, Joi Tiffany, was very accomidating, but BECAUSE WE COULD'NT GET THE BEAT BURNED ON TO A C.D.!!!!!!

Tried it on my comp, NOTHING!

Tried it on Black Natives computer, NADDA!!!!!!

Me and Laz (The Native) are spazzing out (who still says that word?) cause our plans are ruined and we dont know what to do. On the 25th hour (which is 8:45 for us, cause we tryna get in free), Frank Yeiger makes an executive decision at says that we need to leave without the beat and just go to the club and perform some poetry instead. Seeing this as our final viable option, we proceeded to the club, thinking of what we might spit once we got there.....

This blog is long as HECK, Imma have to give ya'll a mp3 at the end of it.........

So we get to the club at 8:59 (free! yessssssss!) and are some of the first ones to get there. Before I tell you how bad (bad meaning good) we murked it, I gotta tell about the hostess, the previously mentioned Joi Tiffany. THE CHICK CAN SANG!!!!!! Oh my God, she was going through classics effortlessly, plus she kept the crowd engaged with her, ummmmmmmm, antics? I highly suggest ya'll spend a Sunday evening at Club Focus whenever you get the chance, you'll be pleased...........

Aight, back to how super-great me and THE DSA are. WE KILLED THAT JOINT!!!! We spent the first half-hour getting our nerve up and freestyling to the band (who also killed it) and just having fun. Once the open mic started, we all got into serious mode, mumbling our rhymes to ourselves, working on hand gestures and whatnot. Frank signed all up one-after-the-other, so the crowd really got the complete DSA experience.

I went up first and did a verse off of "Greatest Love" the joint me and L.C. did off of THE SAINT VALENTINES DAY MIXTAPE 2. I did pretty good, I think, thanks alot in part to the lovely ladies of a sorority that I dont wanna mispronounce, so I'll come back to it later, lol. Frank Yeiger came right behind me and killed em' with "Sunshine", a joint off of his Captainilism Works mixtape. He set up the scene perfectly, so that he wouldnt be just spittin random stuff that they wouldnt understand. He had em begging for more, he prolly coulda went in for two verses. The Black Native sent us outta their with a BANG when he did two verses from "Converse Tonight" which is actually the first song the DSA officially ever did together! He ran through his verses with ease and even brought a smile to the hostess' face with his "breasts like boulders" lone, hahaha.

All-in-all, I say we did great. We got our feet re-wetted (making up words) for being on the mic and had some fun in the process. The CRAZIEST part of the whole thing is that while we were trying our darndest to perform "Captainilism Works", I dont think the song wouldve went over as well as the things that we did perform, its crazy how things work out, eh? "Gods holding the cards, and he dont even gamble......"

PEEEEEEEEEACE!

Oh yeah, the "*" from up top denotes who I think the DSA's lyrical competition is, as far as trio's are concerned, But, wait ________________________, so that means ______________! CHYEAH!

RECORDIN' AT 4:00 IN THE MORNIN'?!?!!!?!?

Actually, its 4:57, lets round up and say I was recording at 5 a.m., lol. I'm not an insomniac, I just think that sleep and other forms of sustenance are for weaklings and I, the En Sabah Nur of rap (new alias, just made it! just now!) have ZERO weakness!

As you can see, sleep deprivation has me rambling ridiculously (but still cognizant enough to use words like "deprivation", and "cognizant" for that matter). Annnnnnnnnnyway, Im feeling pretty good right now, I got two songs done today/tonight, so maybe my plans will come together after all.

Im tryna get the 2nd chapter of this mixtape out, which will be interesting because the release is strictly dependent on my partners in rhyme delivering their verses to me on time.........it'll be interesting........

Anyway, Imma play, errr, "network" on myspace a lil more, then Im going to sleep, I'll holla.

p.s. more mp3's of exclusives on the way, CHYEAH!

HMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm.........

*Tries to think of some creative pleas to cop*

See, s,s,see, see what happened was, see, there was A DRAGON!!! Yeah, yeah, a dragon and some NINJA'S!!!!! They was like...........like........like, *sigh*, I cant do it.........

I can't lie to ya'll, there is no viable reason for me to not post a blog IN THREE MONTHS, its pitiful, I know. I mean, I have pretty good reasons (like moving into a home, having a job), but still, 3 MONTHS!?!?! Ridiculous..........

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut, anyway, lets look past that, shall we? Lets talk about the muuuusic!

Last time I talked (blogged) to ya'll, I was putting the finishing touches on THE SAINT VALENTINES DAY MIXTAPE 2 and prepping BLOOD BROTHERS. As a blog (type?) to you today, I just finished putting the finishing touches on THE REALER TEN: BLACK SOLIDUS, which was a follow-up to last years critically acclaimed THE REAL TEN. Key word: LAST YEARS.

Who the heck am I to think I can drop one 10-song mixtape a year and stay competitive in this game? ITS MADNESS! ITS SILLY and in the words of Della Reese, "I dont like alot of silly stuff"<---censored. So yeah, with that in mind, I have a SLEW (like, a literal slew) of mixtapes coming to ya'll as my album near completion (more on that later). So yeah, Ya'll on the lookout for: 1. THE REALER TEN: PART 2, DEAD CELL 2. BLOOD BROTHERS 3. AVENGERS ASSEMBLE! 4. H.I.G.H.E.R. L.E.A.R.N.I.N.G. 5. DSA/80IES BABIES 6. THE REALEST TEN: BIRMINGHAMS SAVAGE yeah, man, Im goin in. So until next time, hopefully not three months from now, peaceeeeeeee1 Oh yeah, since ya'll stuck with me on my hiatus, here's a little something for you. The first single off of my H.I.G.H.E.R. L.E.A.R.N.I.N.G. M.I.X.T.A.P.E., "Girl You Know", classic Shaz girly-song.

Remember That Part On "Ether", When Nas Said......

"Eminem murdered you on ya own s*$!"? Remember that? Thats how I been feeling nowadays. Whats up, people? Shaz back in the buildin and since Im WAAAAAAAAY overdue with The Saint Valentines Day Mixtape, I guess I'll shoot the breeze about other topics on my mind.

I been doing a pretty decent amount of collaborations with other emcees lately and Im starting to see a pattern on the songs, THESE CATS IS MURKIN ME!!!!!! Now, keep in mind, I only rock with the best, Ive never been on a track with a emcee who wasnt AT LEAST my equal, so a pretty good lyrical sparring match is to be expected, but...............

-Charity
-L.C.
-Frank Yeiger
-Mike Seay
-Dre Seay
-The Warrior

Have all jumped on tracks with me and showed me up. I should be happy, cause this means that all the songs are gonna be classic (especially this one with Charity, Oh My God........or Allah Akbar:), but it still makes me wonderrrrrrrrrrrrr:

am I losing it?
Since Im getting older does that mean I have to work harder at it?
Have I reached my lyrical "glass ceiling"?

who knows? Just venting anyways, laterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............

Shaz<-----------THE TOM BRADY OF RAP:(

No witty diatribe today, this is my official concession speech, I CONCEDE, SNITCHES! I was not able to (fully) deliver the SAINT VALENTINES DAY mixtape on the date that I said, boooooooo, Shaz, booooooooo!

I mean, I got this half-bootied, incomplete, error filled joint up and THAT aint even got downloadable links attacted, what a loserrrrrrrrr...........

Whatever, though, this is exactly the reason I make mixtapes in the first place, to learn whats gonna happen when Its time to drop an album. I learned alot from the experience, but I think Murphys Law explains it all.............................hope youre not waiting on me to explain Murphys Law, ahhahaha...........

I'll get the mixtape tape up-an-running as soon as I can, I might even throw Part 1 up there as an apology to the folks for making em wait, we'll see........

SO IM AT THE GRAMMYS ACCEPTING MY MIXTAPE AWARD, RIGHT?!

The the homie Jigga (Jay-z) was like, "when that mixtape coming out, son?". Im like, "Im not you progeny, Jay, but THE SAINT VALENTINES DAY MIXTAPE 2 is droppin on Valentines Day.". He was like, "I aint get a verse on it?". I was like, "Maybe next year, kid."..................

my delusions of grandeur are GRANDIOSE, eh? hahahaha..........

Anywaaaaaaaaaaay, 4 days til' the mixtape drops and Im looking real good. I recorded THREE JOINTS last night! The kid went in! All i need is a Frank Yeiger ad-lib on one and a deuce verse on the other and Im good on those. I still got one song to record and sent to L.C., hopefully I'll get that back back Wednesday night, so I can put errrrthang together that night....

I think I still need to go back and listen to the St. V Day Mix T part 1, make sure I aint repeating any songs.............

but yeah, EVERYTHINGS A GO!

*Sews Head Back On*

As to say that Ive been running around like a chicken with his head cutoff the last few days. Hello, Huuuuuuuuuumans, Shaz back in thee building with a good-ole update of mi progress. Its six days left til the mixtape drops and I mush say that things are looking goodly-good.

Got everything in place except the new joints that I gotta record and upload, so now I cant blame anyone else if I screw up, WHELP!

The biggest setbacks Ive had was tryna look for these two particular instrumentals the rap over, I been looking all week, to no avail. I recently found out that one of them probably dont exist and I just wanted it so bad that I convinced myself that it did, haha, the other one is uber-rare, so I might have to cancel that idea, teeew (Prop Joe, R.I.P.)

but, it gets better!

I hollered at my homie Warrior a day ago, asking him if I could use one of his old songs for the mixtape. Apparently, he thought I wanted some new stuff, SO HE WENT AND COOKED UP TWO NEW BEATS FOR ME AND THE CREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So just like that, I go from not being able to find two instrumental to having two new tracks! God is the greatest!

So yeah, "Im looking real good"-Ghostface.

peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeace!

Kanye: "So how much yall paying me to jump on this mixtape?"

Me: "Nothing, we were hoping that you'd do it on the strength of......."

Kanye: *click*

Hahaha, I imagine that how it would go, yep. Whats good, folks, Shaz back in the building with an update on the mixtape. So far, so good. I locked down all the guest appearances and got about 80% of the in-house business taken care of, so now there are only a few things left to do:

1. Record 2 new Shaz tracks (possibly difficult considering my laziness)

2. Land a song from The Warrior

3. Make a mixtape cover

4. Upload music to the net

In this new digital age, doing all of these things are way easier than they used to be, so if I make the most of each day, I'll land my deadline!

And nooooooooooooooooooow, how about a sneak peek at the guestlist for the mixtape? Yeah!

We got Nas, Ki-Ci and JoJo, Musiq, Aries (not Gainsborough), Elisa Fiorillo, Usher, Method Man, D'Angelo, Shawn J, Smoke, Lupe, Yummy Bingham, The Rayne, Debbie Boone, Rell, Kanye West, Consequence, Erykah Badu, Frank Yeiger, Black Native, Deuce Warrior and little ole' me.

not bad, eh? Wait til you hear the music

*oh yeah, maybe Bill Withers will show up, too.

* Special Rest In Peace to those who died last night, we had a Big tornado here a few hours ago, God spared me and mine..................

A MIXTAPE IN TEN DAYS, EH? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Whatup, rappers, Lyricists, poets, rhymers and good ole' musicans, Shaz back in the building with Mission (Im)possible. You see, every year around this time, I put out a Valentines Day mixtape with various love songs from the Hip-hop and R&B genre, starring famous mainstream artists and the artists on my own team, The DSA........

Methinks its a good promotional tool and also a good way to put people up on the good music that theyve never heard of or have forgotten about. Good idea, eh? EH?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Theres one teeny-tiny-itty-bitty problem though...................IAINTSTARTED YET AND ITS FEBRUARY 4TH (or 5ht? Who cares). Ya boys workin' with a serious deadline here and in the past, Ive been able to handle deadlines about as well as Brady handled the Giants last night (ooooooh!). The last time I tried this was for the Classic Mixtape, which was supposed to drop right before the Magic City Classic and be passed around at the game (The insuing failure was almost the prelude to my retirement, really). So yeah, Im awful at meeting deadlines.........

Buuuuuuuuut, we'll see what happens and you get to ride wit me! In the words of Kanye, "This is gon be intresteeeeeeeng"

Peaceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...............

Bloody Noses? WHUT THEE FUZZY?!

Oh yeah, this weekends foolishness. The basic theme of this weekend was no sleep, lotsa rhymes, good deal. I already told ya bout friday, but saturday was sicker........so to speak.

I tried to go to bed early, cause I knew I had to drive the Church van the next day (i like flossin the Church-boy status, lol), so I hit the sack at bout 11:00. then, SOMETHING WENT TERRIBLY WRONG *cue dramatic music*. I wake up at bout 3 a.m. (again) with a VERY runny nose, thing is, it wasnt snot running out, but my own life-fluid! My fabulous science! my platelets! MY.......my........

I had nose bleed:/

Happens when I get hot, wont stop til I cool down. So I had to get up, turn the heat off, get a cup of ice, plug my nose and wait thirty minutes.......

Then you ask the question, "Shaz what does THIS have to do with hip-hop?!"

pay attention, son, Im getting to that, geez!

Of course, its like 4 in the morn by now, and since I need to be up at 6, I decided to just stay awake. (this blog is getting loooooooong, sorry to the one person that reads it, ha!). Anyways, I jump on myspace and make my usual trip to Muhsinahs pag, cause she's uber talented and looks like the 80's version of my Mother. I saw I pick of her performing in New York at a club called 205 (go figure) and the atmosphere looked so comfortable, I imagined myself performing there..........................and then the flows just started pouring outta me!

Sundays have always been my best flow days, but thats usually because I just left Church and my mind is clear, but it started early that day!

to wrap this up, I re-wrote a verse for the track that Native (who?) bought, so Im comfortable with it now, yeah!

Next episode.................Valentines Day:(

Sunday, January 27, 2008

NORTH CAROLINA, MUHSINAH, BLOODY NOSES AND INSTRUMENTALS.....

No, thats not the title for the new Quentin Tarintino movie, THAT WAS MY WEEKEND!!!!!

Hello, humanbabies, Shaz back in the building with another go round in the world of an up-and-coming emcee...............where do I start?

Welllllllllllllllll, friday night at around seven I turned in early cause Im was tired from work, ps2ing and anime watching (my nerd game is poppin, my nerd game is cool), got some much needed rest. Thing is, after getting all that sleep, I woke up at 3 a.m. fully energized, so what to do now? Annnnnnnd more importantly:

"wHAT does this have to do with hip-hop, Shaz?!"

Calm down, son, I'll tell ya, I'll tell ya! Here goes: since Its three in the morn and Im fully awake, I decided to turn the ps2 on (again) grad my MusicExpress mp3 player/phone (cut the check, TMobile) and write some rhymes. Long story short, by the end of my NCAA 08' DOMINATION, i had two verses in the bag, yEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH!

butiwentback and rewrote one completely, MORE on THAT tommorow, along wit Muhsinah and the bloody nose;)

What Did John Say About Jesus?

"I aint nothin compared to my cousin J! He so nice wit it, I cant even tie up his kicks for him..........". Lord forgive my paraphrasing.........

But, Shaz, what does ha..................

I KNOW, I KNOW, Fall back and listen humes! I dont thing that I told you guys that I rock with best two male* emcees in the state of Alabama, did I?!Anyways, Shaz in on one-third of the mightest rap crew in the State, The mighty (mighty, MiGhTy) DSA:Dirty South Avengers. The group consists of Shaz (me), Frank Yeiger and BlackNative. Im the wordsmith of the group (though that relative), Frank is the creative-artsy-street guy and Native in the Intellect/Ladies man of the group........

Its kinda wierd for me working with guys who are better than me lyrically because I graduated from the school of Hip-hop in 95' with a degree in Lyricism, meaning that most of my style is "I rap so good that..." and "I burn emcees like............", you know? stuff like that...........

Anyway, my prides working through being tha third-nicest and the result is some darn tooting good music, hit my myspace to check us out.......................im out!

*The best rapper in the state is a woman, eek!

*Valley Girl Voice*

I am like, SOOOOOOOOOO BACK ON MY GRIND, like, totally! Like, uh, this is like, Shaz in the building and..................aightenough of that, haha. Hello artists, Shaz is back in the building and back on his grind with the rappy-rap. Yesterday I jumped back in the both and recorded my first verse to the joint me a Yeiger and doing for the BloodBrothers mixtape (we got 3 outta 10 songs done already, so thats on the way). I aint even listened to the verse yet, but Im sure I'll be unhappy.........

"Why, Shaz?!"

Glad you asked, kid. Its because Im my own worst critci, as any real emcee should be. I still dont think Im "in" the beat like I should be, I still feel like Im either over it or under it, arg! I usually leave pre-production (and post) unhappy with my verse for some reason or another, whether it be me or the technology, its always something:(

The man Frank Yeiger (who is this Yeiger kid he always talkin bout? More on him tommorow) hipped me to something pretty interesting last night. He said that a real artist wouldnt be limited by his materials, that he would "make it work" for lack of a better word. It wasnt a shot at me, but it makes me think maybe i should dissect AcidPro a little more before I move on the Cubase <----Next level-nerd talk:)

Oh yeah, almost finished with the "H.H.W.D.Y.L.M." joint wit Tella (and the remix) plus Im slimming down the tracklist for the Saint Valentines Days Mixtape 3, IM ON IT!!!!!!!

*Yeigers learning Photoshop, NO MORE WACK MIXTAPE COVERS FOR ME!

*too humbled to create catchy tagline*

Good morning, artists! Shaz back in the building, feeling too Blessed this morning. Imma get right to, cause if I get into the details I'll be all day typing this.........

I woke up this morning to the most wonderful surprise ever, SOMEBODY WROTE A BLOG ABOUT ME!!!!!!!!! Can you believe that?!??! And not an ex-lovers lie-filled rant, either (I see you Fortune, haha), but like, like, PROPS ON MY EMCEEING!!!!!!!!!

She and I were supposed to collaborate on a track a minute ago, but instead her telling me to get off of my lazy expletive, she sent me verbal flowers, really made my day, but it also made me realize something............

The kid is lazy. I know I say it all the time, but sometimes its just so glaringly obvious that it hurts. Musically, Im in a position to do EXACTLY what I want to do with this game, yet Im slacking off for.....................for WHAT??! PLAYSTATION?! FEAR OF RECORDING IN FRONT OF FOLKS?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!???!!

anyway, big talk Shaz, lets see if you do anything with it. By the end of this week I should have two tracks and a beat (read: loop) done..............we'll see

*MisEducated and Shaz, "Hip-Hop Why Dont You Love Me" coming soon, humes!

DOWN GOES SHAZ!!! DOWN GOES SHAZ!!!!!!!

What was I rambling about yesterday? Oh yeah, being the Roy Jones of rap. Im starting to think that a "Rappers-like-boxers" mantra might be more accurate. You ever noticed how one fight a boxer can be at the top of his game, straight destroying folks and then, BOOM! The next fight, they getting knoced out in the 1st?!

I used to thing cats was just throwin' fights to get the payoff, but I was talking this boxing cat I know and he said that it happens JUST LIKE THAT!!!! I couldnt explain why, but he says its true, which leads me to my own conclusions. Boxing (like emceeing) is a brutal sport, so you have to be brutal yourself to contend, right? You gotta be hungry, on edge, prepared to knock someones HEAD OFF, correct?! So how do you keep that edge once youve found success? Once the money and fame comes in, how can you stay hungry and train like your fighting for your livelyhood? The answer is, YOU CANT!!!!

as usual, your asking, WHATSTHISGOTTADOWITHHIPHOP?!

Well, humes, I'll tell you. Whats happens to a rapper once he finds success in the game, whether it be financial success, noteriety or whathaveyou, is that they become complacent, lazy, not "hungry" anymore. That sir, is when the falling off begins. I cant say that I've found fame in hip-hop, but I never expected it to go this far, never expected for people that Ive never met to know the words to my songs. Its a very humbling experience, but also a very DANGEROUS one..........

oh yeah, I got in the booth last night. Frank came and added some spark to the chorus, WE GOTTA BANGAA ON OUR HANDS!

"IM THE ROY JONES OF RAP!!!!!!!!"

Good thing or bad thing?! Who knows, riiiiiiiiight?!!! Shaz back in the building with a little innanet pondering about this thing we do called emceeing. I used to love to use the analogy that rappers are like running back, i.e., short shelf life of productivity and when you lose it, you lose it. But if thats the case, How do explain Jay, Nas and them? How can Rakim still rap better than ninety percent of the industry, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Well, why I dont have an answer for those abberations nor have I given up on my faith in the Rappers-as-tailbacks mantra, I do believe I've stumbled on to a new theory....................................which I'll tell you about later, hahahaha...

Oh, didnt get on the mic last night, played NCAA 08' instead, ha!

SHAZ, SAIGON, FRANK YEIGER AND JAY-Z............

What do these 4 have in common? Senseless stage names? Detest for fake rappers?! NOOOOOOOO, we all rocked over the same track (Frank, Jay, Shaz and Sai, in order of who killed it the best), but OF COURSE Im not gonna tell what track it is, not yet, at least. Thats not what Im here for, though, check this...............

So Im watching rap city and Saigon debuts the video of the instrumental that me and Frank are doing the mixtape joint to. Whats crazy is, I REALLY GOT MAD AT IT, LIKE, "NOW FOLKS GON KNOW WE BIT THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!", haha, like I was really upset that dude debuted the song that he paid for and recorded, I was acting like was mine, ahhahahahHHAHAHHA. Anyway, ponder on this. do mixtape rappers=thieves? talk amongst yourselves.......

I didnt get in the booth yesterday, but I did hook the mic up (sorta), we takin' baby steps......

Peeeeeeeeeeeeace!

YOU EEEEEEEEEEEEEEDIOT! -Ren

So, ummmmmmmmm, yeah, about my Uncle Mike dyiiiiiiiiiiiing. Turnsoutitwasntreallyhimthatpassedaway, but his father. How could I botch up that info, you ask?! Weeeeell, lets just keep my idiocy out of it, haha. Funerals are a crazy thing, man, always a weird experience. I always have believed that the importance of a funeral really isnt about the deceased, but the impact that they have on other people, more specifically, the fact that they force us to contemplate our on mortality........................

Whats that have to do with music you ask? EVERYTHING! If youre looking at a man at the end of his journey, a journey that ended (i sure) before he expected it to, you cant help but think that the same thing might happen to you, so youd better get the most out of this life while you can and enjoy it so the fullest. So basically seeing him laid out in the casket just infuenced me even MORE to do my thing before my thing is over...........

That being said, me a Frank Jaeger, my partner in rhyme are gonna work on a joint for our BloodBrothers mixtape this week, GO GET EM' SWIZZY!

FAMILY DONT UNDERSTAND THE INDUSTRY.......

"And the industry dont understand family", too true, I guess. Im not in "the industry" officially, but I can see how the business world could be unfeeling towards your family situation, and vice-versa. WHAT?!!? Hahaha, allow me to elucidate. That was a quote from the homie 9th Wonder when someone asked him how he balances music and family. I call him the how cause I got a beat from him (there isssssssss a difference between getting a beat and being given a beat, lol) for an old mixtape joint of mine called "G.L.Y." or "Girls Like You" for long........

WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING!??!!

Weeeeeeeeeeeell, meanie, I said I was gonna give ya'll insight on my recording process, so here's the deal. Friday night Im going to go to my girls house to celebrate her birfday, then Saturday morning Im going to my Uncles funeral (keep in mind both event occur in different cities that I dont live in) and then Sunday morning Im coming back home to drive my Churchs' and sing in the choir. So guess who wont be recording any music this week? Still guessing?! ME, SON! ME!

Not that I woulda been recording anyway, seeing as I just copped NCAA 08' for the PS2, but maybe I would have..............or not. Remember yesterday when I said I wasnt gonna record because.......................then I left yall hanging? Well, this is the deal. Im starting to feel that my crew and I (Yeah, I gotta crew, AND THEY WILD NICE WIT IT!) are outgrowing our setup. We probably need better equipment before we move anyfurther, so until then, Imma just have to link up some of my old stuff so ya'll can see how "wild nice" we are.................later, of course, PEACE!

oh yeah, hold hands and say it like me, "Rest In Peace, Uncle Mike"

HOW CAN I STAY ANONYMOUS WHEN...........

When what?! WHEN WHAT!?!?! When I tell you, you'll know "when what?!", hahaha! Whatup world (or one person whose made a mistake and clicked the blog), this is Shaz, in the building, with my FIRST BLOG EVERRRRRRRRR! I mean, not ever, but, wait, IT IS THE FIRST ONE EVER! Of course, I do my little bloggy-blog on myspace, but its strictly promotional stuff like, "Check out my new song!" or "Download my new muuuuuuuuuusic!", but its never really a personal thing......

Which brings us to *drumroll, please* IN THE BUILDING!!!!

I plan on using this little space that Google has blessed me with to give you the more in-depth personal side of my music-making process, if any care to know. For example, most folks have been telling me that Im taking too long to get back in the booth for my second mixtape (The Real 10! still up for download on my myspace http://www.myspace.com/shazmusic), but what they dont know is that I got the next joint loaded and ready............in my head, that is. See the only thing thats holding me up is..................wait.................this is getting too long........i wouldnt read all this mess if someone else wrote it, so lets stop here here, peace, humes, I'll be back laterrrrrrrrrr.......

*Oh yeah, the line is "How can I stay anonymous when its my job to be famous?". Story of my life, lol, PEACCCCCCCE!
